Shania is 15 years old now, and is being treated for kidney disease, most likely Chronic Renal Failure. She takes her daily SubQ fluids without complaint, but is demanding when she thinks treats are due. Her adopted parent describes how Shania was found:
"I found Shania under a van in the open garage of my condo building. At the time she was about 6 months old, skinny and filthy - an obvious stray.
I was shocked however that she slowly came to me when I encouraged her. I already had a black cat called Angus, who I knew would not tolerate having his territory invaded by another so I tried to entice a co-worker, over the phone, to take Shania, by naming the stray after her favourite singer. Fortunately for me, she couldn't take her but her name stuck."
