If you are in the market for a new pet, specifically a new dog, you are no doubt wondering what the best breed of dog is with regard to children.
Even if you do not have kids, it's a great idea to get a dog that is excellent with a child anyway because these breeds are invariably gentle and with a great disposition.

You think I am going to recommend a Labrador Retriever or a Golden Retriever, right? Sure, those are awesome choices, but here's something you may not have thought of.
Both of these breeds are very over-bred by the back yard breeders, and because of this, undesirable personality traits are showing up in both Labs and Goldens.

So, what would I recommend.
An English Setter.
They are not exactly rare but certainly not well known, not over-bred in the least (so keep it a secret okay?), and not the focus of puppy mills, thankfully.
Why an English Setter? This dog is gentle, gorgeous, and absolutely superb with youngsters.
You will be the talk of the neighborhood when your neighbors see you strolling down the road with one of these beauties on the end of your leash.
And talk about disposition, these are personality supreme.
So don't let anyone in on the secret, but these wonderful setters are the hidden gems of the dog world.
