    • The 2006 Honda Accord continued the seventh generation of the midsized car the company first manufactured in 1976. Honda updated the 2006 model year with more powerful engines, a redesigned front end and interior, and the option of a manual transmission in the V6. Prospective buyers could purchase the Accord V6 as either a coupe or sedan, and in one of two trim levels, LX or EX.

    Engine

    • The 3.0-liter V-6 engine had aluminum block and heads, and used Honda's VTEC variable valve control technology and multiport fuel injection. The engine had single overhead cams and four valves per cylinder.

This engine had 244 horsepower at 6,250 rpm and 211 pound-feet of torque at 5,000 rpm. The engine had a compression ratio of 10.0-to-1.

    Transmission

    • Honda installed a five-speed automatic transmission with overdrive as standard on the EX and LX trim levels of both the Accord V6 coupe and sedan. Buyers who opted to purchase the navigation package for the EX trim level upgraded the coupe or sedan to a six-speed manual transmission. All Accord V6 models used front wheel drive.

    Performance

    • The 2006 Accord V6 could accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.6 seconds, and passes the quarter-mile mark in 15.1 seconds with a speed of 95 mph.

The fuel economy of the Accord V6 varied slightly depending on the transmission. A V6 coupe or sedan using the automatic transmission earned 20 mpg city and 29 mpg highway. Sedans and coupes with the six-speed manual were rated at 21 mpg city and 30 mpg highway. Honda installed a 17.1 gallon tank in both the coupe and sedan Accord V6.

    Dimensions

    • The Accord V6 coupes and sedans had slightly different overall dimensions. The coupe was 187.6 inches in length and had a 105.1-inch wheelbase, 71.3-inch overall width and a 55.7-inch height. Sedans had a length of 191.1 inches and a 107.9-inch wheelbase, 71.6-inch width and 57.2-inch height.
