We Are Entering a New Age of Attack on Profits
In watching the business news and the nightly news that is fed to the public, one would swear that it is against the law for a business to make a profit.
One can only ask, since when is it against the law to make a profit in a capitalistic nation.
Companies and corporations are supposed to make a profit, and that is their primary objective.
They do this by creating goods and services that people are willing to trade their units, or dollars for.
Recently, we have learned that the Obama administration and various members of Congress disagree.
They believe that large bonuses paid for those executives to create a profit should be illegal.
They also say there should be a tax on excessive profits such as those that were created during the last very high gasoline prices by the oil companies.
The reality is if people do not want to pay that much for fuel, they are free not to, it is a choice.
We are "free to choose" as Milton Friedman, the famous economist might say.
We are treading on thin ice and we are entering a new age of attack on profits, and era that can only lead to one thing; the restriction of capitalism, the over taxation, over-regulation of free enterprise, and less production of the services and goods that we desire the most.
It is too bad that we do not teach free markets, and economics in our high schools, as it ought to be required.
This great nation was built on capitalism and if we destroy our founding building blocks we will note the decline of the greatest civilization ever created in the history of mankind.
Please consider this, because it is very serious to the forward progression of our nation, along with our standard of living and quality of life.
