Cheap Greenhouses May Not Be JustFor Hobbies Anymore
I can hardly watch the news anymore, but something struck me.
Uncertain times may signal the coming of uncertain food supplies.
We are facing many precarious situations these days worldwide.
In the U.
S.
we get much of our food supply from other countries - think Mexico, South America, and Costa Rica.
Have you noticed that it is getting more difficult to find food in our local grocery stores that is not imported? Perhaps you have thought about the benefits of greenhouse growing as a hobby.
However, these days greenhouse growing may be considered more of a precaution to many "what if's".
It's the unthinkable for sure.
But what if something did break in our current food supply? How long do you think the current U.
S.
food supply would last if there were viral outbreaks or wars etc.
to stop or contaminate the huge amount of food we import? Three weeks? Two weeks? I don't mean to be the bearer of bad news.
I want you to keep certain things in mind - and preparation is the key.
If you like to garden and you know that a greenhouse will enable you to grow plants and vegetables year long you might want to take a serious look at the idea of purchasing or building a backyard greenhouse.
If preparation is the key, then having a greenhouse to grow your own plants and vegetables will enable you to control your own food supply.
Greenhouses come in all shapes, sizes, and prices to fit any budget.
Learn to preserve your own plants and vegetables by canning or freezing them at home then you will be able to keep a nice handy stock of your own supply.
It may sound like a step back to the pioneer days, but maybe they had the right idea after all.
