If you've recently started organic gardening, then you may be one of the number of people who find that their garden gets overrun with thousand and thousands of these little bugs.
The question is, are they harmless? Some of the names used for these bugs - sowbugs - pillbugs - doodlebugs - potato bugs - roly polies These tiny little grey bugs are scavengers.
They feed mostly on decaying organic matter, but sometimes may feed on young plants.
However, they don't usually cause much damage.
They thrive only in places where there is lots of moisture, and usually stay hidden under objects in the day time.
Near buildings they often hang around beneath compost, mulch, stones, boards, flower pots and other objects that are sitting on damp ground.
Another place they are commonly found is behind the grass edges next to foundations and sidewalks.
However, despite the small amount of damage they can sometimes do to young plants, the good news is...
