Just For The Chance
"How do you go from where you are to where you want to be? I think you have to have an enthusiasm for life. You have to have a dream, a goal, and you have to be willing to work for it." - Jim Valvano
If you ask most people if they would like to be rich or debt free or financially secure, they would say "yes". But for most people, it's just easier to go to work, earn just enough money to pay the bills each month and, if they're lucky, have a little left over to put into a retirement account. That's a vicious cycle that the majority of people get trapped in. But it doesn't have to be that way.
The start of the 2008 Summer Olympic Games is days away, so it's a perfect opportunity to consider what it takes to chase your dreams. Everyone knows that the Summer Games are held every 4 years, but did you know that the athletes who are competing this year have been training for the last 4 years, if not longer? They have had to overcome injuries and set backs, but they have stuck with it for the last 4 years. They have put in hours upon hours of training every day for 4 years just for the chance to compete and hopefully win a gold medal for their country. Notice I said just for the chance, winning isn't guaranteed. The competition is fierce and anything could happen, injury, false starts/disqualifications, etc. But these athletes have given it their all each and every day for 4 years just to compete. Just for the chance.
If you approached your business with that same attitude, just for the chance to be successful, what do you think would happen? How many people could you share your business with in a 4 year span? How many articles could you write in a 4 year span? How many networking events could you attend in a 4 year span? How many people could you help in a 4 year span?
Network Marketing is a simple business, it's not easy, but it is simple. If you put forth the effort, and you are consistent and persistent, you will accomplish your goals and you will have control over your time and your life. You will be able to travel the world and live the lifestyle that you have always dreamt about. You can turn your dreams into your reality.
But you have to want it! You have to be willing to do the work to make it to the top. You have to train your mind and be willing to make small sacrifices along the way. You have to be determined and strong enough to climb the small hills and the big mountains on the way to the top. You have to be determined to get past the no's and keep going until you reach the finish line.
So ask yourself, are you willing to do what it takes to be successful? If so, then do something about it. Start right now. Take action, any action, that moves you toward your goal. Then stick to it next week and next year. If you are willing to do what it takes, you'll achieve success sooner than you think.
