How to Redirect a Changed Permalink on My Website

104 7
    • 1). Open your HTML or text editor. Load your website's ".htaccess" file if you have one. Otherwise, create a new document and name it ".htaccess."

    • 2). Make a list of the specific URLs that need to be pointed toward a new location.

    • 3). Type "Redirect 301" and a space. Type the Web page that needs to be redirected, but do not include http://, www or the domain name. It should just be the directory the Web page is in and the actual Web page name itself. Add another space. Type the full URL to the redirection target. Save this ".htaccess" file and upload it to your Web server. Any time a person accesses the old URL, he or she will be redirected to the new page.
