"A hydrogen bomb, seriously?" Miles says. He, Charlotte, and Daniel are alone in the tent.
Daniel says, "Back in the 50s, the US government tested H bombs in the South Pacific."

"Lucky us."

"You didn't have to say that," Charlotte says.

"Say what?" Daniel says.

"That you loved me. I mean, there are plenty of ways you could have convinced them you weren't going to blow up the entire island."

"I said what I said because I meant it, Charlotte."

Ellie comes in and gets Daniel. "Let's go."

"Back soon, I promise," Daniel tells Charlotte.

Outside, Richard unties Daniel's hands. "Whatever your superiors told you," Richard says, "I want you to know the truth. A month ago we found 18 members of an army battalion right here in the jungle, setting up this camp. We gave them the opportunity to leave peacefully. They weren't willing to do that, so I was forced to kill them. All of them."

"Forced," Daniel says. "By whom?"

"You answer to someone don't you? You follow a chain of command?"

"Yeah."

"Well so do I."

Jones runs in yelling for Richard.

"What the hell happened to you?" Richard says.

"Cunningham and I, a group of them surprised us. We were outnumbered, but I escaped."

"Outnumbered, eh?" Ellie says and he tells her to shut up.

"Who's this?" Jones asks about Daniel.

"He's going to help us take care of our problem," Richard says. "You better get going."

"Wait," Jones says, "he's one of them. You can't actually trust him."

"How did you escape?" Richard asks.

"I ran."

"Did it ever occur to you that they might follow you?"

"Follow me? Their leader is some sodding old man. What? You think he can track me? You think he knows this island better than I do?"

Above camp, Locke looks down on the camp. Juliet walks up beside him and he says, "How did you know Richard would be here?"

"Richard's always been here."

"How old is he?"

"Old."

"Why are you so interested in Richard, John?"

"I'm interested in him because he was about to tell me how I could save us. But before he could finish we were interrupted by that flash of light and I'm hoping we can pick up where we left off."

Sawyer walks up and says, "Hate to bust up the I??‚??„?m-an-Other-You??‚??„?re-an-Other reunion, but Faraday, the guy that's actually going to save us, is being death marched into the jungle right now." They look down to see Daniel walking with Ellie behind him.

"Good luck with that," Locke says.

"You're not going to help me save him?"

"No, I'm going to go down and finish my conversation with Richard."

"That's going to get us all killed," Sawyer says. "You go rolling in there, they're going to know we're here."

"Fair enough. I'll give you 10 minutes head start." He walks away.

Sawyer looks at Juliet and says, "What about you? You want to stay here in crazy town or help me rescue the geek?"

Down below, Ellie asks why Daniel keeps looking at her. He says he's not and she says he is.

"You know what, you're right, I'm sorry. It's just, you look so much like somebody I used to know."

"Someone other than the girl you just professed your love for? Well aren't you the Romeo?"

"Far from it, believe me."

She points the rifle at him. "I don't believe you, by the way. You may have Richard fooled, but you can't really expect me to believe that you, a British woman, and a Chinese man are all members of the United States military. Who are you and what are you doing on our island?"

"You want to know who I am?" He walks toward her and she walks backwards. "I'm your best chance at disarming that bomb."

"Alright then," she says. "Disarm it."

The bomb is hanging from a wooden structure. It has the word Jughead painted on it.

Ellie watches as Daniel examines the bomb. He sees a leak and backs away. He climbs down and tells Ellie to back up that it's unsafe and to get back.

"I swear if you try anything-" she says.

"If I try anything, what? You're going to shoot me? Is that right? Yeah, that's perfect, because rifle fire right next to a hydrogen bomb, yes fantastic idea. Really inspiring. Okay, listen to me. Do you people have any access to lead or concrete?"

"For what?"

"There's a crack in the casing. It needs to be filled with lead. You need to take it off this platform, carefully, and bury it."

"You brought me all the way out here to tell us that we have to bury it. You told Alpert you could disarm that thing."

"You don't need to worry. If you do what I say, you bury it, it won't go off."

"How do you know that?"

"I need you to trust me."

"I don't trust you."

"Just bury it. Bury it and everything will be fine. Remember your superior-"

"How can you be so sure?"

"You want to take care of this bomb, you bury it."

"How do you know that?" she asks.

"Because 50 years from now this island is still here."

She cocks the rifle. "What did you just say?"

"Whoa, take it easy. I can explain this a little better. I know how this sounds, believe me. It's hard to explain. Fifty years from now, me and my friends, that's where we're from. And, here's the key, everything is fine. I'm not saying it's perfectly fine, but there hasn't been any atomic blasts, alright?"

Sawyer steps out with a rifle on Ellie and says, "Drop your gun, blondie."

Daniel says that she's okay and he can put his gun down. Sawyer says, "She puts hers down first."

Juliet says, "Why don't we all put our guns down."

Sawyer says, "I said, drop it!"

Ellie puts her gun down and Juliet picks it up.

Sawyer sees the bomb and says, "Son-of-a-bitch."

"Are they from the future, too?" Ellie asks.

"You told her?" Sawyer says.
