What Does a Legal Secretary Do?
If the lawyer world is a big interest to you, but you do not have any desire to become a lawyer yourself, you may want to consider having a little part in law by becoming a legal secretary. As one of these, you will have many job responsibilities. You will be responsible for coordinating office activities for attorneys as well as administrative law examiners. You will also perform a large variety of secretarial tasks such as scheduling hearings and client meetings, as well as preparing legal documents for upcoming trials or depositions. As a first level legal secretary, you are making the minimal amount of salary. You must have a keen knowledge of legal facts. Being able to type quickly is a definite plus. Good handwriting when taking notes is extremely important, especially when you must type up the minutes of important client meetings. You will sometimes act as a liaison, going from office to court house, delivering important documents for your attorney, or taking notes during a court hearing. This type of job, in this field can be incredibly rewarding and can prove to be very lucrative once you have climbed up the ladder and earned the respect you deserve. It is a good idea to take some courses at your local community college to brush up on your skills.
