While some pet owners are OK with their little kitties prancing around on tabletops and counters, others can't stand it! There's good reason for this as well.

There's also a chance you're using the counter top to do so:) If you're interested in keeping your cat off the counter, there is a three step process that I've come up with.
The first thing you want to do is make the counter a less enjoyable place for your pet to hang out on.
You can do this in a number of different ways.
I prefer using a bit of double sided tape.
Place it randomly on your counter.
When your cat's walking around up there now, he'll feel it sticking to his feet.
Don't worry.
This isn't painful at all.
It's just really annoying! Chances are your cat we'll get sick of this feeling and jump back down on to the floor.
This is, of course, only the first step in this process.
After all, you can't be sticking pieces of tape on your counter top for the rest of your cat's life! The next step involves discouraging your cat from jumping onto the counter in the first place.
The best way to do this is with noise.
It doesn't really matter what kind of noise you use.
I'm told that a lot of people have success using a tin can of some sorts filled with pennies.
In order to keep your cat from jumping on to the counter, you have to watch him closely.
When it looks like he's ready to pounce, shake the can! This will startle your cat and he'll more than likely refrain from leaping up onto the counter.
The final, and maybe most important, step in this process is offering your cat something else to climb.
You see, it's natural for cats to climb and you shouldn't be discouraging this behavior.
Consider getting him on of those cat towers to play with.
You may even want to hide treats on it somewhere.
