How to Replace a DVD Decoder

    • 1). Download and install the Windows XP Video Decoder Check Up Utility from Microsoft's website. See the link in resources.

    • 2). Launch the program and it will identify what DVD Decoder you have on the computer.

    • 3). Click on "Start" and then "Control Panel" and finally "Add or Remove Programs." This window will list all the software on your computer. Find the name of the codec of the DVD Decoder and click on it once. Then click on the button to the right that says "Change/Uninstall." Follow the prompts, clicking "Next" until the windows says "Software successfully uninstalled."

    • 4). Restart your computer for the changes to take effect, then look for another DVD Decoder from Microsoft (see link in resources).
