The Seat Belt in My Corvette Won't Pull Out
- 1). Open the door to ensure the seat belt isn't caught in the door frame.
- 2). Untangle a stuck seat belt in the retractor. A seat belt that becomes bunched inside the retractor -- located on the door panel -- will not pull out. Use a thin tool, such as a screwdriver, to poke inside the retractor and untangle the seat belt.
- 3). Tug the belt up and down rapidly. The seat belt features a locking mechanism that automatically locks it in place when the car is in motion. The feature may have turned off. Tugging the seat belt causes the locking mechanism to release.
- 4). Take your car to an authorized Corvette mechanic or dealership for inspection and repair. The vehicle features pretensioners that are designed to tighten the seatbelt during a moderate or severe crash. If the pretensioners are activated, they need to be replaced as they only work once.
