What Payments Do Credit Card Companies Accept?
- Credit card companies accept checks and money orders in the mail. It is extremely important that you include the payment stub included with your bill and also that you write the account number on the memo line of the check.
- Most credit card companies allow you to create an online account. Once created, you can sign in and make payments by entering your bank's routing number and your bank account number. Your payment will be deducted from your checking account directly.
- If your bank has online bill pay, you can use this feature to send payments to the credit card company. You simply enter the credit card account number, company name and address. You can choose to set up an automated payment each month or create a new payment each month.
- You can pay your credit card by phone by entering your bank's routing number and your personal account number. Many credit card companies charge a fee for use of this feature, though, so it should be used as a last resort only.
- Cash should never be mailed to the credit card company, but if your credit card is backed by a bank, you can pay cash in person. Simply bring your credit card statement into the bank connected to the card and pay the teller cash. The amount will be applied immediately to your account, making it the best choice if you are paying on the due date.
- You can also pay your credit card bill by wire transfer if you choose, although you do have to pay a wire transfer fee. Check with your bank to find out where to send the payment.
