    • 1). Calculate your ideal body weight for your height. Use your height and age to calculate your ideal body weight with a height to weight ratio chart. Avoid trendy fad diets and concentrate on eating three meals daily with healthy food choices such as fresh vegetables, lean proteins and good fats. Examples of lean protein include chicken breasts, nuts and legumes, fish and lean buffalo. Good fats are non-trans fat.

    • 2). Walk for 30 minutes after large meals. This gets your body's metabolism into action and begins digesting and burning calories. In addition to the daily walk, add cardiovascular workouts three times a week. Cycle, run, speed walk, roller blade or kayak to begin shedding excess fat and begin turning that fat into lean muscle -- those are just a few examples, do what comes natural to you, and what you enjoy. Understand that muscle weighs more than fat, so while you trim down, you may see increases in weight. Do not be fooled into thinking this is fat gain.

    • 3). Snack on low calorie foods during the day. If you regularly have a candy bar or doughnut, substitute with a banana instead. A banana is high in fiber and makes your stomach feel full. The average banana has 6 g of fat where the average candy bar has 125 g -- so go for that banana instead of the sugary treat. Avoid diet sodas and sugary soft drinks or fruit juices. These are high in calories and sugars which turn into fat. Have soda water or seltzer instead.

    Image Improvement

    • 1). Dress in continuous lines. By formatting your outfits, keep the fabric designs streamlined in flowing lines. Men should choose a long sport coat or jacket that matches the pants to give the image of being thin and trim. Women should dress with blouses or jackets that flow into the skirt or pants. This does not "hide" unwanted weight, rather highlights your body's natural flow, presenting the improved image of trim and slender. Men should keep tucked-in shirts from ballooning out of the pants as this makes the body appear puffy and lumpy.

    • 2). Treat balding scalp with hair-growing hormones which have been shown to stimulate hair growth and improve looks.

    • 3). Schedule cosmetic procedures to reduce crow's feet, brow wrinkles or smile lines. Small cosmetic procedures like Botox improve looks by eliminating wrinkles and worry lines from your face.

    • 4). Whiten your teeth. Over-the-counter teeth whiteners are available -- or schedule an appointment with a cosmetic dentist and have your teeth whitened professionally to brighten your smile.

    • 5). Apply an exfoliant and facial skin cleanser to your face at least once a week. Improve skin quality and help stave off wrinkles with facial treatments. Add a monthly salon-based professional facial to help maintain youthful facial skin.
