How to Reset the Ink Level on a HP 4100 Printer

    • 1). Open the front cover of the printer and remove the cartridge by lifting the tabs on both sides of the cartridge. Slide the cartridge out of the printer.

    • 2). Find the old microchip and use the tweezers to remove it. The microchip is about the size of a pencil eraser and is held in place by friction alone. Take note of how the microchip was situated so you can replace it correctly. Put the microchip in a safe place for future use.

    • 3). Replace the old microchip with the new microchip.

    • 4). Put the cartridge back into the printer, secure the tabs, and close the front cover. The printer will say that the toner level is 100 percent.
