Countdown to a Flat Belly

I can't wait for summer! I love cookouts, swimming, gardening but there is one thing I could live without, trying on swim suits.
You see, I struggle with the dreaded pooch, that lower belly fat that makes me cringe when I try on anything form fitting.
Once a kid at the pool ask me if I was pregnant.
This was about seven years ago, so the answer was no.
I'd like to blame my pooch on my genes, but that's not the entire truth.
Anyway, enough whining.
A flat belly depends almost entirely on your diet.
You can do toning exercises that will help define your muscle, but if that layer of fat is still there, you won't see muscle.
That said, let's countdown the foods to eat/ignore that will get you bikini ready.

EAT GOOD FATS Good fats help keep you full and satisfied.
Olive oil, olives, flaxseed, avocado, and fatty fish are all examples of good fats.
Your brain also needs good fats to help it stay mentally prepared so you can avoid those sugary temptations.

PROTEIN UP Eat more lean protein.
Protein takes longer to digest, so it burns more calories and keeps you feeling full.
Protein is also needed to build muscle, and muscle burns more calories than fat.

EAT LESS SUGAR Sugar causes fat.
Your body gets energy from simple carbs including sugar.
When you eat too much sugar, the excess sugar is stored as fat.

DON'T SKIP MEALS When you skip a meal, you are more likely to overeat at the next meal.
Eating every three hours keeps your metabolism high which will burn more fat.

REDUCE ARTIFICIAL SUGARS Artificial sugars cause more sugar cravings.
They also cause bloating, gas, stomach upset and mess with your good gut bacteria.

DRINK WATER Drinking an eight ounce glass of water fifteen minutes before a meal will reduce your calorie intake and help you feel full.
Water flushes toxins from your body which will help you debloat.

EAT LEMON, GINGER, PINEAPPLE AND CUCUMBER Lemon, ginger, pineapple and cucumber help fight inflammation.
Inflammation in the body can lead to belly fat.
They also help the body debloat.
Ginger helps with digestion, nausea and upset stomach.
Try incorporating one or more of these tips into your daily routine, and soon you will have a flat belly just in time for summer.
