How to Clean Brick with Muratic

    • 1). Cover surrounding areas with a tarp or plastic sheet. Muriatic acid can damage other items, plants and vegetation.

    • 2). Wear a pair of rubbing gloves, ventilation mask and safety goggles. Fill a bucket with 1 gallon of cool water. Add 1 cup of muriatic acid.

    • 3). Saturate a stiff-bristled brush broom in the mixture. Scrub the brick with the brush broom. Begin at the bottom and work your way up the brick. Continuing scrubbing the brick and saturating the brush broom until you are satisfied you have thoroughly cleaned the brick.

    • 4). Rinse the mixture off the brick with a water hose. Begin at the bottom of the brick and move upward in steady back-and-forth motion. Rinse the stiff-bristled brush broom with the water hose.

    • 5). Fill a clean bucket with 1 gallon of bucket. Add 1 cup of ammonia. Saturate the stiff-bristled brush broom into the mixture. Scrub the brick with the brush to neutralize the acid.

    • 6). Rinse the neutralizing mixture off the brick with the water hose.
