More Consumers Enjoying Online Banking

One thing that people who order checks, write personal checks, cash checks or review check designs at their local bank have in common is that they also bank online. Over the last 10 years more banking customers have turned to the internet for their banking needs and major banks have responded by creating more customer friendly options to make it easier for a banking customer to conduct their transaction from home.

New Advancements for 2012

One of the biggest changes in the world of online banking is the customers' ability to deposit their check electronically from their home. To utilize this feature, all a customer has to do is own a scanner and scan their check then upload via their banks secure server or email it to their banks customer service center. Once the check has been received, the customer can expect to have the funds credited to their account within 24 to 48 or less depending on their bank.

Bank Securely

Before banking online, always make sure that your bank website has a https before it's URL instead of an http because, this is the difference between choosing a secure banking website and a banking website that's unsecure and you could possibly face the risk of losing your personal banking information to a scammer or phishing organization.

One of the most common ways that people fall prey to scammers or phishers is by email, a scammer will typically send out a mass email that looks like it came from a major bank and the email will urge the consumer to login to their account to fix a major problem. If you receive one of these emails, make sure that you verify it's from your bank first by calling them because, as with any banking scam, once you login to that website, the scammer will have your online banking information and they will be able to login and drain your account.

Watch out For Fees

Online banking is almost always free with the major banks but, due to the economic recession, some banks are now charging for their online services. The next time you receive your bank statement, make sure that you are not being charged for online banking because, you could be surprised to find out that you're paying more money for this service than you should.
