LR- (Light Rigid Licence)

LR- (Light Rigid Licence)
Light rigid refers to a licence that allows you driving vehicles with a GVM greater than 4.5 tonnes but not more than 8 tonnes. So the licence holder can drive any towed trailer that must not cross more than 9 tonnes GVM. As to get a light rigid licence one must hold a class c licence for at least one year he is allowed to drive vehicles that fall under class C.

MR- (Medium Rigid Licence)
Medium Rigid refers to a licence that allows you driving vehicles with 2 axles and a GVM greater than 8 tonnes but it must not be more than 9 tonnes GVM. As the precondition of getting this, one must hold a class C for at least one year. A holder of a MR licence is always allowed to drive vehicles in class LR and lower.

HR- (Heavy Rigid Licence)
It allows you driving vehicles with 3 or more axles and a GVM of more than 8 tonnes. Any towed trailer that must not weigh more than 9 tonnes GVM is allowed to drive under this class. It can include articulated buses. To get this class one must get a licence of a class C for at least two years or a LR or MR class for at least one year.

HC- (Heavy Combination Licence)
It includes heavy combination vehicles like a prime mover towing a semi-trailer, or rigid vehicles towing a trailer with a GVM of more than 9 tonnes. A holder of a HC licence is allowed to drive vehicles in class HR and lower.
