How to Install Invisble Pet Fences

    Plan the Installation

    • 1). Measure the dimensions of your yard to ensure that you have enough wire to fully enclose the perimeter of your yard.

    • 2). Draw a plan for where you want the invisible pet fence to be. This will help you to visualize any obstacles you will need to go around when installing the fence. The fence should be placed at least three to four feet away from any areas you do not want your pet to reach. The wire must begin and end at an electrical outlet where you will install the transmitter, but any areas with two lengths of wire running alongside each other will not be activated as a fence for your pets.

    • 3). Place flags in the ground along the desired location of the invisible pet fence around your yard. Flags can be anywhere from two to 10 feet apart. These flags will help guide your installation and will also help your pets learn where the invisible fence is located.

    Install Invisible Pet Fence

    • 1). Leave about three feet of wire at the location where you will be installing the electrical transmitter and begin the installation from that location.

    • 2). Dig a small trench at least 1 inch deep and up to 6 inches deep along the path of the invisible fence.

    • 3). Place the wire into the trench, being careful to not break the wire as you push it down.

    • 4). Cover the wire with dirt and stomp on it to securely bury the wire underground.

    • 5). Cut a small trench with a circular saw in any locations where your invisible fence must cross a sidewalk or driveway. Fill the trench with sealer or mortar after placing the wire.

    • 6). Mount the transmitter near the electrical outlet and connect both ends of the invisible pet fence wire to the transmitter to activate the fence.
