How to Tell If an LCD Inverter Is Faulty
- 1). Turn off your laptop and remove the power cord.
- 2). Remove the screws on the plastic frame that surrounds the LCD screen.
- 3). Use your fingers to pry the frame off the screen by the sides and corners and set it aside.
- 4). Locate the rectangular inverter board mounted below the screen. Notice two cables plugged into ports on either end of the board.
- 5). Unplug the cables and plug them back in, making sure they are secure.
- 6). Turn on the computer, and if you are still experiencing the same screen problems, such as it being dim or dark, the inverter is faulty. Turn off the computer.
- 7). Unplug the cables from either end of the board and remove the screw holding the board in place.
- 8). Remove the board and fit a new one in its place. Reverse the steps for reassembly.
