How to Landscape in Front of Metal Fences
- 1). Add a row of bushes along the front row of the fence. If you want to hide the fence, opt for tall, thick shrubs or privacy hedges. Use lower bushes if you have a decorative metal fence.
- 2). Place a narrow, elevated garden bed in front of your metal fence. The front of the fence can be a perfect place to display colorful plants and flowers. Include other features in the garden bed such as a birdbath, a small water feature or decorative stones.
- 3). Install a pathway or sidewalk that leads into your yard in front of the metal fence. Place a decorative border on either side of the pathway made of stone or metal. Plant flowers on either side of the path to add color to the area outside the fence.
- 4). Turn the area in front of the fence into a seating area by putting a park bench into place. Plant flowering shrubs like azalea or forsythia on either side of the bench to add a splash of color during certain times of the year.
- 5). Use the space to display outdoor art. Line the ground in front of the fence with different, distinctive sculptures or objects.
