Dont Forget Your New Years Resolution

Every year we sincerely make our New Year resolutions. Some of us make a resolution that we would kick the butt. Then there are others who vow going to the church more often or reading the bible. Maybe you gave up eating lots of junk food, but one resolution, most of the people make is to loose weight. We don't usually state how much we plan on loosing or if we do it's usually quite off the mark. So we set ourselves up for failure before we even start.

You may really want to quit smoking, but if you don't think, that it is harmful for your health, you will only look at it the same as giving up ice cream. Something you desperately want but now others are telling you that you cannot have it. It has to be you that wants to quit the habit, not others.

The same goes for losing weight and burning fat. If you are only doing it because you feel your family will accept you more if you do, or others are telling you over and over that you need to loose, then you will never be successful in achieving your goal. You need to have a big desire yourself to loose weight . You should be able to visualize yourself in a bikini comparing yourself to a model in a commercial on the television. Look at it daily and remind yourself, that you want to wear that bikini again. Be careful not the set any unreasonable or unachievable targets for the weight loss. That again only sets you up for failure when it doesn't happen.

Do keep in mind why you want to lose weight and burn fat. Of course the primary reason is to lose the excess weight. To burn off those unwanted pounds building up on your tummy and hips. Other reasons are to feel healthy. Maybe you won't be as thin afterwards as you would like to be, but you can be healthier. To feel more dynamic. You would want to to keep up with the kids, feel that you can take the dog for a walk without feeling winded afterwards. You would want to be able to walk a mile instead of just around the block. To be able to do more. Housework may be too tiring. If you are able to do more, actually exert yourself, you will most likely be able to sleep better at night too. Not tossing and turning or feeling uncomfortable with the way you feel when lying in bed. You would be able to breathe better. It won't cure a snoring problem, but it may help. But we don't guarantee that.

Just don't give up on that resolution yet. Give it more time. You've been following the weight loss programs for just a few months. How long did it take to put on that excessive weight? I know it took me a lot longer than a few months. If you hit a plateau, then do some changes to your routine. Eat a little different, change up your exercises. You body can accustom itself and adapt to the new things you are introducing it to. This is what can cause plateaus. Do make sure to drink at least 10 eight ounce glasses of water a day. Another secret if trying to eat less, is use a small plate. It makes your mind think you are eating more. Even if you go for seconds, you may not be eating as much as you were before.

Give yourself a treat occasionally. Maybe one day a week, plan on letting yourself take a break for one meal off your diet. Or if you have been invited to a party, allow yourself to splurge a little. It gives you something to look forward to and the diet doesn't appear to be so bad.

Keep working on the thin person inside you. They are wanting out.
