- 1). Visit the ooVoo homepage to get started. Select the "Play" button on this main page to find out more details about the application. Users can conveniently enjoy video chats, text chats, phone calls, file sharing and many other features. To enjoy video and audio chatting, you'll need to connect a Web camera and microphone to your computer system. If you would like to learn more detailed information about each included feature, select the "Features" link on the homepage.
- 2). Click the "Get ooVoo" button to begin the download process. You'll immediately be directed to a page that lists the requirements of running the application successfully. The ooVoo application works with computers that run Windows 2000 and higher or Mac OSX 10.4 and up. Select the "Get ooVoo" button again for the appropriate operating system. A pop-up window will prompt you to save the file to your desired computer system.
- 3). Locate the saved ooVoo file on your computer system and launch the application. After doing this, you'll go through a short setup process before using ooVoo. Choose the “Install” button to allow the application to be placed on your desired computer system. Depending on the type of computer you are using, it should take only a few seconds for this process to complete.
- 4). Enter a brand-new ooVoo ID in the available empty space when the pop-up box appears. An ID can be any combination of letters and numbers that is 6 to 30 characters long. After entering this information, you'll also need to enter an easy-to-remember password that can also be a combination of 6 to 25 letters and numbers. If you do not share your computer system with anyone else, then place a check in the “Remember My Password When I Sign In” box. Enter your email address, accept the agreement terms and then click the “Create” button to finish.
- 5). Invite friends or family members to start using ooVoo by clicking the “Invite Your Friends” button. Doing this will automatically send out an email briefly explaining what ooVoo is and how to get started. On this invitation page, you can also enter a chosen display name and profile picture. Providing this information will give you the chance to personalize your newly created account.
- 6). Search for friends or family members who are currently using ooVoo by clicking the “Find Your Friends” link when you first sign on. To avoid having this particular window pop up each time you log in, select the box that states “Don't Show This Screen at Startup.” This will stop it from populating and let you immediately access the features in your ooVoo account.
- 7). Place a call using ooVoo by dialing a phone number. You can do this very easily by placing the dialed number in the “Enter a Phone Number” box. After you have done this, press the “Enter" key on your computer keyboard or click the green phone icon. It will immediately dial the phone number you've just entered. If you are making international calls, remember to change the drop-down menu at the bottom of the application to the destination country you are calling. Initially, new users get 15 minutes of free talk time.
