How to Present an Invention to Investors
Instructions
1Prepare a functional sample or samples to show the investors. Nobody will sink money into a product if they don't have faith that it will work. Be absolutely positive that this creation will function without fail. If there is a snafu during the meeting, it will be difficult to convince investors your product is reliable.
2
Look up similar products, if any exist, and find out how well they sold and how much money they earned. While this might not be your main concern as an inventor, this is the language investors speak. Showing them that similar products have made money will help spark their interest.
3
Research the group of investors. Look at what other products they have invested in and what markets they focus on. Knowing what they focus their attention on will help tailor your presentation to focus on their interests.
4
Keep the presentation brief and simple. If your product is a complicated one, focus more on the end result it produces rather than how it works. Overly-technical talk can lose investors' attentions and interest.
5
Rehearse your presentation to actual people. While this may sound like a silly idea, there is a world of difference between practicing your speech to yourself and public speaking. Do this even if it's just to an audience of friends and family. Rehearse several times until the nerves wear away.
