Exercises After Rotator Cuff Surgery

104 4

    Inclined Press

    • Sit propped up with pillows so your torso is at a 45-degree angle with the floor. With a light weight in your right hand and elbow bent, slowly press your right arm up toward the sky and return slowly back to the start position. Repeat on the left side.

    Sitting Press

    • Sit up right with a light weight in your right hand. Slowly bend at the elbow and press the weight up in the air until your arm is straight up by your ear. Slowly return to the starting position and repeat on the other side.

    Stabilized Rotation

    • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, elbows bent and placed against your hips. Hold a light weight in each hand, palms facing in, pointing straight out in front of you. Slowly open your weighted hands to the side while keeping your elbows securely at your hips. Return hands to the center to complete one rep.

    Arm Lifts

    • Stand with feet shoulder-width apart. Your arms should be hanging down along the side of your body with a light weight in each hand. Slowly raise your arms up to the side until your hands are parallel with your shoulders. Slowly return to the start position. Then, raise your arms out in front of you until shoulder level before returning to start position.

    Considerations

    • Consult your doctor before beginning a new exercise routine. Listen to your body and take your time building up repetitions and weight levels. Drink plenty of fluids while exercising and do not forget to breathe normally. Keep all movements slow and controlled and never bounce in the middle of a stretch or movement.
