How to Plant Guava Seeds
- 1). Put on your gardening gloves. Mix 1 part cow manure, 1 part organic compost matter and 4 parts soil to fill a 5-gallon bucket 3/4 of the way full. Do this three weeks before planting your guava seed. Every other day, stir the mixture with a large stick or by hand to aerate and mature it.
- 2). Prepare guava seeds for planting while the mixture is being prepared, or matured, over the three-week period. Wet a paper towel. Place the guava seed in the middle. Fold the paper towel around the seed.
- 3). Pierce a dozen small holes in a plastic baggie using the toothpick. Place the guava seed inside the plastic bag. Set the bag on a saucer in a dark area for three weeks. Fill the saucer with water once a week.
- 4). Fill a potting container 3/4 of the way full with the potting mixture (from Step one). Make a 2-inch deep hole in the center of the pot.
- 5). Remove the guava seed from the plastic bag and paper towel. Place the seed into the hole and lightly cover with potting soil.
- 6). Water the container with the newly planted guava seed. Cover the container with plastic wrap. Pierce a dozen holes in the plastic wrap with a toothpick. Place container in a sunny location.
- 7). Remove the plastic wrap when the guava seedling appears. Keep the soil moist from then on.
