Many of us are cat lovers and if you are reading this, undoubtedly you are one too.
Cats are strange creatures and it's been said many a time that you never truly own a cat but the cat decides it is going to live with you simply because it hasn't evolved enough to operate a can opener.
Cats are very independent creatures and are known for their comings and goings.
They are also known for their bringing of presents and for being fickle with their affections.
But likewise, cats can be fickle with their food too and they are notorious for deciding one day that they food they've been eating for months no longer appeals to them.
Being very stubborn creatures, they will patiently sit there and meow at you until you give in to their demands.
In the meantime, whilst you are ridden with guilt for not feeding your cats what they want, your cats are probably popping over to the neighbors or to a field and dining out.
But what can you do when your cat decides it isn't going to eat the food you are giving it? Let's be honest, not all of us are in a position where we can pander to our cats expensive tastes and have to feed the cat on a budget too.
If you are trying a new food with your cat, it may be that they genuinely don't like it.
There are certain cat foods our four kitties won't touch no matter how long you leave it there.
There are other foods that they will wolf down the moment you put it on the floor for them.
If it is a regular food that they've stopped eating then I've found it to be very effective to stop feeding them that food for a few days and put down a cheaper food.
If you put down a more expensive, high quality food then often you find yourself stuck giving them that food from then on.
When you put down the cheaper food they will turn their nose up at that usually or pick at it.
Then after a couple of days you put down their original food and they'll return to it with relish.
If you feed your cats both wet and dried food and they stop eating one then stop giving it to them for a few days.
Usually, when you give it back to them, they will eat it and not complain.
Cats are known to be incredibly stubborn creatures and it is far too easy to give in to their demands and buy them the most expensive cat food on the market.
Out stubborn your cat and beat it at its own game! As someone once said, "Cats have never forgotten that they were once worshiped by the ancient Egyptians".
