How to Wire a Starter Motor Start-Stop Switch
- 1). Locate the battery teminal on the switch. Connect that terminal to the starting battery positive terminal using a red wire. Locate the starter or relay terminal on the switch.
- 2). Connect a red wire from the starter terminal on the switch to the starter control relay battery terminal. Locate the ground terminal on the starter control relay. Use a black wire to connect this terminal to ground or the negative terminal of the battery. This assumes that the starter control relay has already been wired to the battery and starter.
- 3). Turn the starter switch to the start position and the starter should start turning the engine. Never run a starter without a load. It can be destroyed by its own power.
