This happened in 1966 when I was 16. I was living in Dallas, Texas and a friend asked me to spend the night at his house while his parents were out of town. We planned to fry some shrimp and watch old movies on television. We had fun telling jokes and laughing like best friends do.

At about 11 p.m., he showed me the guest room and left me alone. His room was upstairs. I had just gotten in bed and noticed the room was completely dark.

I lay there thinking about a joke he had told. Perhaps three or four minutes passed when a bright light caused me to raise my hand to shield my eyes. I lay there thinking there must be a car turning into the driveway, shining its lights through a window behind my head and reflecting off a mirror in front of me. Then the thought hit me. There was no mirror in front of me and no window behind me.

I dropped my hand from my eyes. The light had dimmed, but at the foot of the bed was a glowing thing, roughly the shape of a man, but only about four feet tall. I leaped out of bed and ran past it with my eyes closed. What happened next is fuzzy. I remember lying down in the grass in the front yard, then the sun was rising in the east. The night had passed in the space of a few minutes. I didn't speak of this for over twenty years.
