Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool

• 1). Launch the Windows Update application from the Start menu. The application uses Internet Explorer to connect to Microsoft servers. The servers scan the computer for updates to the Windows operating system including the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool.
  
  
• 2). Follow the on-screen directions to download and install the necessary updates. Close Internet Explorer.
  
  
• 3). Click on the "Run" icon under the "Accessories" folder on the Start menu. Type "MRT" minus the quotes into the box that appears and press the "Enter" key.
  
  
• 4). Press the "Next" button at the bottom of the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool window. Select "Full Scan" from the options that appear and click the "Next" button.
  
  
• 5). Allow the scan to complete. The scan may take over an hour to complete depending on the size and number of storage drives.
  
  
• 6). Follow the on-screen directions to remove any detected variations of the Vundo trojan and other malware. Click the "Finish" button to close the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool.
  
  

VundoFix

• 1). Launch an Internet browser. Navigate to the Atribune website and download VundoFix (See resource 1). Note the download location.
  
  
• 2). Open "My Computer" from the start menu. Navigate to the drive and folder containing the VundoFix tool.
  
  
• 3). Launch the VundoFix tool. Follow the on-screen directions to conduct a system scan.
  
  
• 4). Allow the scan to finish. Follow the on-screen directions to remove any variations of the Vundo trojan. Close the VundoFix tool.
  
  

Symantec Trojan.Vundo Removal Tool

• 1). Navigate to the Symantec website and download the Trojan.Vundo Removal Tool (See Resource 2). Open "My Computer" and navigate to the drive and folder containing the removal tool.
  
  
• 2). Launch the Symantec Trojan.Vundo Removal Tool. Follow the on-screen directions to conduct a full system scan.
  
  
• 3). Allow the scan to complete. Follow the on-screen directions to remove any detected variations of the Vundo Trojan. Close the removal tool.
