- 1). Search the telephone number. Begin your search by visiting whitepages.com. Click on "reverse lookup" and enter the phone number. It returns results with the person's name and address. Whitepages.com is the first online "connectory" service. It provides services such as people searches, phone and address searches, work and professional listings, business searches, and reverse searches. Use "reverse lookup" for phone numbers, addresses, area code and ZIP codes and mobile carrier lookups.
- 2). Use a digital directory. Search for people using a digital directory, switchboard.com. Enter the person's telephone number, area code plus the phone number minus any space or dashes. It will return the name of the person. It may or may not include the address, depending on what information the directory has. It may, however, list the city and state of the person. The website says it is a service of whitepages.com. However, search results differ between the two.
- 3). Use the search engine Yahoo. It provides an excellent way of searching phone numbers and finding people. Visit people.yahoo.com and simply enter the phone number under "Reverse Phone #." It returns results searching the Internet for the phone number.
- 4). Use the search engine Google. Go to google.com and type in the phone number you are searching for: for example, 555-555-1212. Google returns results searching millions of pages on the Internet. For example, if the person you are searching for has listed a classified ad on the Internet and used their phone number, they are listed in Google's results. If the person you are searching owns a business and they use the phone number, they may also be listed in Google's search results.
- 5). Use paid sites. Many sites charge fees for performing various types of searches. Some free sites contain advertisements that lead you to websites that charge for the same searching services, but many times you can find the information without paying.
- 6). Considerations: Not all people are listed on the Internet using a telephone number. If someone has an unlisted number, most likely the person is not listed anywhere on the Internet.
