How to Install a New Replacement Hard Drive

    • 1). Turn of your computer and remove your power cord and any other peripheral devices.

    • 2). Remove the two screws securing the side of your computer case and remove it.

    • 3). Place your new hard drive into an empty slot in the front of your case.

    • 4). Use the two or three screws that come with your new hard drive to secure it to your case. There will be holes in the side of the hard drive intended for mounting it.

    • 5). Attach the SATA or IDE connector that comes with your hard drive to the back of your hard drive, then to the port on your motherboard. Your SATA and IDE ports will be clearly labeled on your motherboard.

    • 6). Connect a four pin power lead which extends from your motherboard to the back of your new hard drive.

    • 7). Replace the side of your computer case and replug in the power cord to complete the operation.
