How to Defrost a Windshield With Hot and Cold Air
- 1). Start your car. Set your vents to blow on your windows, turn your heat as far up as it will go and set the fan to a low speed.
- 2). Wait for the ice to start to melt. You can then get out of the car and scrape off the last few pieces or wait for the ice to be almost gone and use your windshield wipers to remove it.
- 3). Set the heat in the car to a comfortable temperature and turn on the air conditioning. This will force the air through the air conditioning system, drying it out, before raising the air temperature.
- 4). Adjust the temperature setting as necessary while you drive. Turn the heat up if the windows get foggy and down if the inside gets uncomfortable.
