104 11
    • 1). If your wheezing is caused by asthma or respiratory difficulties, as is the case with most instances of wheezing, then you should visit your doctor and ask for a prescription rescue inhaler as well as any preventative medications the doctor can recommend for wheezing.

    • 2). Take your preventative medications for wheezing as directed. Take your rescue inhaler as needed at the onset of wheezing.

    • 3). Learn to practice proper breathing techniques to avoid wheezing. Sit up straight, breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth.

    • 4). Remain calm, breathe evenly and take your medication regularly.

    • 5). Avoid triggers. Many episodes of wheezing occur as a result of coming in contact with triggers such as pollen, dust, pet dander, smoke, paint or abrasive cleansers, extreme weather conditions and stress. Stay indoors in the air conditioning when it is extremely hot outside, and stay warm in the winter. Avoid dust and physical exhaustion, and always have a rescue inhaler handy when symptoms of wheezing occur.
