My Great New Years Eve in DC Experience
London, my home city, has extraordinary New Year's Eve parties, but after going to New York City last year watching a ball drop while standing in the freezing cold, my husband and I decided to New Years Eve in DC. I don't particularly like the cold, even though I live in one of the dampest countries in the world.
Because we were traveling from so far away we made a week long vacation out it. We stayed at a five star hotel and even though we weren't in the room very much the service was excellent and made the trip more enjoyable. We had a concierge, who we tipped very well, to get us dc new years' eve reservations at the best restaurants, shows, private museum viewings, and of course we had a car and driver at our disposal at all times which made our even more enjoyable.
We saw so many wonderful sights including The White House, the National Cathedral, and took a walk from Capitol Hill all the way down to the Lincoln Memorial. We ate at fabulous restaurants, drank amazing wine, and ended up at the hotel full and satisfied. However, there was one thing I needed desperately and that was a new dress for New Years Eve in DC.
After shopping in some of Washington's finest shops I found a beautiful cocktail dress and matching shoes to go with it. Back at the hotel my husband was looking online at all of the things to do in There were so many new year's eve washington d.c. parties to choose from but one party that caught our eye was a New Year's Eve Gala. The description made it sound like it had everything we could want to do.
So we bought our tickets and first went out to dinner with new friend's we met in the hotel. By the time we got to the party New Years Eve in DC was in full swing. It had delicious foods and desserts, extremely interesting people, great music, and so much more. We danced and drank champagne and counted down to 2011 with a Lady Gaga impersonator to a magical balloon drop. By 1:00a.m. we were exhausted and went back to our hotel. The Gala was excellent and so was our whole trip to Washington, D.C. We plan on coming back to DC in the spring when the weather is a bit milder. There is just so much to do and see in the United State's capital.
