103 7
Getting ahead in the next decade of austerity and limited growth, may become harder for some, but there are seven ways in which could help you thrive and develop a worthwhile career.
What are the seven ways you could become a success in the next decade? 1.
Learn and Develop More Skill's One "job" societies are particularly hard hit in a growing global economy, and companies that are expanding in this new type of economy, prefer to hire employees with a range of skill's, rather than one specialization.
The Internet, can help you to develop new skills, and also learn more, as it has become a virtually free source of information, "Surf and learn," could bring you a better job or career.
2.
Lessen Your Dependence on Your Paycheck In 2010, over 60% of working Americans earned the minimal wage, and most new jobs in a declining economy are low wage jobs.
This trend is set to grow, and in the long term create a need for many employed people to seek a second or third income.
If you cannot save, cut back and invest in a website, or in setting up a part-time business.
3.
Owning Less Brings More Freedom The less you own, the freer you are to move to a job in another area or country.
Continuous Technological change means the things we own are getting smaller, and smarter.
This means we need less, and can actually become one day, as mobile as the devices we own.
4.
Think Globally A global economy needs a global workforce, and instead of thinking locally and accepting any job or position, you could be developing an International career.
Those that act and think globally should benefit the most in this next decade, and this in turn means leaving the local mentality behind.
5.
Embrace an Era of Insecurity Accepting that you may have to switch jobs more often, retrain and possibly move, embraces the realities of this age of insecurity.
Invest in yourself through online courses, practice and develop a skill, and always consider moving to work, because employment may not move to you.
6.
Less help from Our Governments Banks and large Corporations have already taken the lions share of government welfare, so there will be little to pass onto the rest, There are going to be few bailouts for the people, and possibly higher taxes to pay for the banking and corporate bailouts.
Less help means we need to become self dependent, and more independent of our own governments.
7.
Love What you Do Loving your career, means you excel in it.
This leads to higher personal development, as you can expand the very same career into many fields.
A manager can become a consultant, a chef, a restaurant owner, all signs they love their career, instead of the paycheck that goes with it.
2011 to 2020 is probably going to be an era were we earn less, work more, and pay more for less government services.
It probably could become an era of decline nationally but expansion globally, and accepting this change, could allow you to embrace a more secure future.
