- 1). Obtain the Azure Flute by attending a special event or entering the following Action Replay code:

D2000000 00000000 - 2). Travel to the Spear Pillar, which is a large plateau on Mount Coronet. Reach it by going through the Mount Coronet cave system. The Spear Pillar is the same location where you fought Dialga during the main story line of the game.
- 3). Enter the shining square located in the middle of the Spear Pillar plateau.
- 4). Press the "Y" button to open the game menu. Highlight the bag with the control pad, and press the "A" button to open the bag.
- 5). Scroll through the bag with the control pad until you reach the "Key Items" pouch. Use the control pad to search this pouch until you find the Azure Flute.
- 6). Highlight the Azure Flute with the control pad. Press the "A" button to use the Azure Flute. Once you use it, the game will show an animation in which a staircase appears in front of your character.
- 7). Walk up the stairs created by playing the Azure Flute. The stairs will lead you to the Hall of Origin, where you will see Arceus.
- 8). Walk into contact with Arceus and press the "A" button to begin combat with it. Arceus is a Normal-type, level 80 legendary Pokemon. It is immune to damage from Ghost-type moves and takes double damage from Fighting-type moves.
- 9). Battle Arceus with your Pokemon. Unless you have a Master Ball, which will capture any Pokemon without fail, you will need to lower Arceus' Hit Points as close to 1 as possible. Moves such as False Swipe will allow you to attack Arceus without risk of knocking it unconscious and ending the battle. False Swipe will leave a Pokemon with at least 1 Hit Point.

Tap the bag icon on the lower screen when you are ready to capture Arceus. Tapping the bag icon will bring up another menu. Tap "Poké Balls" in the upper right part of the lower screen; the game will show you a menu with all of the Poké Balls that your character carries. Choose the Poké Ball that you want to use, and tap its icon on the lower screen. Arceus will not be easy to catch, so you might need to throw Poké Balls at it multiple times. If it is proving difficult to capture, try to continue to lower its Hit Points as close to 1 as possible. Inflicting a status condition such as Sleep or Paralysis will make capturing this Pokemon easier. If your Pokemon team or Arceus are knocked unconscious, you can return to the Spear Pillar and re-battle Arceus until you capture it.
