How to Restore Drivers in XP

    • 1). Log into your Windows XP computer using your administrator password.

    • 2). Click the Windows "Start" menu and click "Performance and Maintenance." Click "System" to launch the "System Properties" window.

    • 3). Click the "Hardware" tab and click "Device Manager" to launch the devices list. Expand the device type branch you want to work with by clicking the "+" button. For example, to view video display drivers, expand "Display Adapters."

    • 4). Right-click the driver you want to adjust under the device type branch you selected and click "Properties."

    • 5). Click the "Driver" tab and click "Roll Back Driver." Click "Yes" to confirm and restore the driver to a previous state. Repeat this same process to restore additional drivers. Close the device manager when you are done.
