Writing workshops are a waste of time if your goal is to maximise your income from writing.

In this article, I'm going to explain why.

There, I said it.

Is this a controversial and argumentative statement? Maybe.

Is it true? Almost certainly.

The medium through which we get our written material has changed and many have yet to catch up to the new paradigm.

Newspapers are closing in record numbers.

In even greater numbers, they're migrating more and more of their content delivery to the web.

In numbers which accelerate every day, journalists are being made redundant.

Is it that we don't like to read anymore? Certainly not.

We're reading more than ever.

It's the form, not the function that's changed.

The blogosphere is full of talented amateur writers with no formal writing training.

The web is insatiable in its need for content.

The crux of the matter is the quality of that content.

More and more content is being produced and more and more the standards of writing are slipping.

But guess what...people don't mind...at least people who aren't trained as writers.

Webmasters are getting this message and the quality of writing style and it technical correctness is declining.

What does this mean for you? Well, if you're looking for a way to be an exceptional creative writer, any one of dozens of writing workshops can cater to your needs to learn the creative skills of writing.

However, if your goal is to maximise your income from writing, most of the writing workshops on the web are a complete waste of time. There are several things missing from these workshops which, if your goal is to maximise your income, you need to know about.

The first is how to effectively get clients. Most writers constantly moan about how they never have enough work at decent rates. This is because they aren't using the correct strategies to get the work. There is more writing work available now than at any time in history and the growth in the volume of work is approaching 100% a year. Writing online for webmasters is a boom industry which is changing people's lives fast.

The second element which is missing from many writing workshops is the business side of writing on the internet for a living. One of the best ways to earn money as a writer is to write articles for webmasters. Would it shock you to know that there are people earning over $100 an hour from this activity? It shocks most people.

Simple articles can be churned out in a few minutes if you understand exactly how to do it. In addition to that, it's child's play to fill your diary weeks in advance with this type of work. Most people when looking at this type of work think that it is low paying. It's only low-paying if you're willing to work for that amount.

In most cases, brand-new writers can set their income at a level which suits them. From there, it is only a matter of using the right marketing strategies to get enough clients. If your goal is to become a high quality creative writer, you should try one of the creative writing classes.

If however, your goal is to maximise your income, you can learn to write for webmasters in a day and you will quickly earn more than most journalists.

In many cases, a writing workshop will hinder your progress as a profit maximising writer on the web because it will probably teach you a lot of habits which no longer apply. Check out our profit maximising writing workshops.
