- 1). Plant your grass seeds in the area where you want to grow the eyebright. If you are growing it in a garden bed, creating a separate section for the eyebright is recommended so that the grass can be controlled. Let the grass germinate and establish before planting your eyebright. Choose an area which receives full sun and drains well.
- 2). Dig a small hole with the spade, around an inch wider and deeper than the bottom of the eyebright seedling. Eyebright seedlings are not readily available at nurseries, but specialist herbal nurseries often stock them. Eyebright seeds can also be germinated if a seedling is unobtainable.
- 3). Place the seedling, loosened from its tub, into the hole and lightly pack the soil down around it. Try not to disturb the neighboring roots of the grass too much, as the young seedling will send out suckers to these roots which will help feed it.
- 4). Water the seedling well. Water every two weeks for the first four or five months of growth, after which watering should only be necessary if a very dry spell occurs and the plant shows visible signs of wilting.
