How to Use Sodium Perborate to Remove Mildew Stains

Old quilt
If you have an area on a large piece of fabric to clean such as a quilt or an outdoor furniture cushion, mix 2 tablespoons of sodium perborate with 1 pint of hot water. If the fabric is already especially weak, use warm water. Take a sponge, soak it in the solution for one minute, then sponge the stained area on the fabric. Get as much of the solution as possible directly on the stain. - 3). Allow the solution to soak into the fabric for 45 minutes.

Quilts on a clothesline
Rinse thoroughly, then wash fabric with a gentle detergent. Air dry, preferably on a clothesline. - 5). If you need to bleach a large piece of fabric such as an entire quilt or bedspread, you will need to soak it in a bathtub or washing machine and adjust the amount of sodium perborate used accordingly, in line with package directions. Use hot or warm water. After soaking for one hour, rinse and allow to line dry.
