5 AIM Mail Availability Options
In AIM Mail, there are five availability options, including away, on the phone, be right back, invisible and the option to create your own away message.
On the Phone on AIM Mail
To set your AIM Mail IM to reflect you've stepped away to take a call, select "On the Phone" from the drop-down availability menu at the top of your AIM Mail Buddy List.
Be Right Back on AIM Mail
To set your AIM Mail IM to reflect you've stepped away but will return momentarily, select "Be Right Back" from the drop-down availability menu at the top of your AIM Mail Buddy List.
Appear Invisible in AIM Mail
To set your AIM Mail IM to invisible, select "Invisible (Appear Offline)" from the drop-down availability menu at the top of your AIM Mail Buddy List.
Once set, your screen name will not appear as signed on to any AIM contact, including those you are IMing with.
Setting Custom AIM Mail Away Messages
To set up a custom away message in AIM Mail, select "Custom Away Message" from the drop-down availability menu at the top of your AIM Mail Buddy List. 13 and 15
An empty text field will appear at the top of your AIM Mail Buddy List.
Enter your custom away message in this field. Once you have entered the text, your new away message will appear at the top of your and your buddies' Buddy List.
Ready to sign out of your AIMBuddy List?
Select "Sign Out of AIM" from the drop-down availability menu at the top of your Buddy List to sign out. Note: Users on public computers should note this action only signs you out of your AIM Buddy List and not AIM Mail.
