How to Make a Jack-O-Lantern Wreath With Styrofoam
- 1). Place the wreath on the cardboard. Trace around the entire wreath. Cut out the traced outline. Repeat this so that you have two identical rings. Hot glue one ring onto the front of the wreath, and one onto the back.
- 2). Cut four strips from the rust material, each one 1 1/2-inches wide. Wrap these strips, one at a time, around the wreath, covering the cardboard and the floral wire. Overlap the strips to allow for full coverage with no gaps. Hot glue the ends to secure the fabric.
- 3). Wax the serrated knife by running the old candle up and down the blade, coating the blade in a layer of wax. Use the waxed knife to slice off one quarter of an inch from the top and bottom of each Styrofoam ball.
- 4). Cut the fabric into strips. Cut the remaining rust fabric into four strips. Cut the dark rust fabric and the gold fabric into four strips each. Cut the orange fabric into eight strips.
- 5). Wrap the fabric strips onto the Styrofoam balls, to simulate pumpkins. You will use two strips (of the same color) on each ball. This way, you will end up with 10 pumpkins: 2 rust, 2 dark rust, 2 gold and 4 orange. Take care to completely cover the surface of each ball, and then hot glue the ends of the fabric strips to secure them.
- 6). Trace and cut out facial features from the dark brown felt. You can use circles, ovals or triangles for the eyes and nose. Draw a mouth for each "pumpkin," which can be smiling, ghoulish, and toothless or as you wish. Cut out enough for ten pumpkins.
- 7). Use the craft chalk to trace 10 small leaves onto the dark green fabric and cut these out. Cut ten one-half inch by twenty-two inch strips of tan material. Place each strip out on a flat surface and roll it tightly lengthwise. Hot glue the end to keep it rolled closed. Repeat this step with the other seven strips. Hot glue one rolled strip and one leaf to the top of each pumpkin.
- 8). Use straight pins to arrange the facial features on the pumpkins. Once they are arranged to your satisfaction, hot glue them in place and then remove the straight pins. Cut ten 4-inch pieces of floral wire. Curl them tightly around a pencil and attach them as tendrils on the pumpkins.
- 9). Hot glue the pumpkins around the wreath, placing them an equal distance apart from each other. Tie a large raffia bow, trim the ends and hot glue it to the bottom of the wreath.
