How to Remove Rust From a BBQ
- 1). Heat up the barbecue. Turn on the grill and let it heat up for a short time. Then turn it off. Grills are easier to clean when warm.
- 2). Scrub off rust. Buy a grill scraper or grill stone from a hardware store or online. Use either one to scrub the rust from the grills and other parts of the barbecue that have rust stains.
- 3). Disassemble the grill. Remove those parts of the grill that are designed to come off. Use dish-washing detergent mixed in warm water to clean the parts, including the grill.
- 4). Apply natural oil. Apply cooking oil or natural oil with a paper towel to prevent rust.
