How to Choose an Internet Marketing Coach
Choosing an internet marketing coach could very well be the best decision you'll ever make in your internet marketing career.
As with any area of your life, the right coach can help you to push your boundaries and help make your business a success.
So, what should you look for when you choose an internet marketing coach? Experience You don't want someone who started their internet business yesterday.
Or, worse still, hasn't quite started it yet.
You're going to be using your coach for help and advice.
So they need to have at least some experience with internet marketing beyond reading a couple of Kindle books on the subject.
They don't have to be stellar in their field - a lot of sports coaches didn't break records when they were younger - but they do need to know enough about their subject to be able to help you make a difference in your internet marketing life.
Personality I don't mean that they are always being talked to by people like Oprah (apart from anything else, they'd likely be too expensive).
What I mean is that they need to have a personality that you get on with.
If one of the coaches on your shortlist has a voice that causes you to squirm in the same way you do when fingers get scraped down a blackboard then - unless there are also transcripts of absolutely everything - they're probably not a good fit for you.
So you need to make sure that your coach fits with a style and personality that you get on with.
Availability Your chosen coach won't be around 24/7 but they should be available at specific times and you should be able to make those times.
That's sometimes easier said than done.
It's easy to forget the time differences between various places (although it's also fairly easy to get used to them - I often work with web techies in India and it's just a matter of getting up slightly earlier if I want them to have the whole day on something rather than me getting started when they're ready for lunch).
Fortunately Google will tell you the time elsewhere in the world so you can check this.
A weekly time slot is an excellent way to check availability.
It has the advantage of committing both you and your coach to a time rather than hoping that you'll both make time in busy schedules at short notice.
Your phone diary will work as an added reminder and stop you double booking yourself.
Results Ideally, your internet marketing coach will have results in your chosen area.
This is by no means essential - just because a coach hasn't got millions of people on their Twitter followers list doesn't mean they can't help you do that if you chose to - but they should certainly have success in some area of your field.
If you're not sure, you can - and probably should - ask for proof! But so long as they know how to analyse and model other successes, this is probably the least important part: NLP (neuro linguistic programming) teaches that you find other successful people, model what they've done and then implement that model.
So between you and your coach you could track down the successes and dissect what they've done, creating your own blueprint in the process.
Actually do it You need to bite the bullet and actually employ an internet marketing coach.
There's only so much you can learn from courses - online or in person - and using a coach will help you get to the next level, the one where you're earning more than you ever dreamed possible!
