    Bows and Arrows

    • Men were traditionally the hunters in the Seminole Indian tribe, and they used mainly bows and arrows for hunting. Seminoles hunted the wildlife that surrounded them, namely deer, turkeys, rabbits, turtles and alligators. This game was often included in traditional Seminole dishes. Seminole men also used bows and arrows during times of war, often against the Tomahawk tribe.

    Fishing Spears

    • In addition to hunting with bows and arrows, Seminole men often fished for food using spears in local rivers, ponds and streams. They often took their children fishing with them and taught them how to use the spears.

    Men's Clothing

    • Seminole men typically wore cotton, full-cut shirts, the front of which were often colorfully decorated. They also wore turbans made of plaid wool on their heads, as well as belts made of leather, yarn or beads. During cold weather, Seminole men wore long shirts decorated with ruffles.

    Women's Clothing

    • A Seminole woman traditionally wore a full, floor-length skirt decorated with ruffles, along with a long-sleeve blouse that showed her midriff. Attached to the blouse was a ruffled cape. Seminole women often wore many strings of glass beads, which they acquired throughout their lives.
