HP 7650 Scanjet Installation
- 1). Turn the HP 7650 Scanjet around so you can access the four cable jacks on the back of the machine. From left to right, the jacks are for the power cord, the transparent materials adapter cord, the USB cord and the automatic document feeder cord.
- 2). Plug the USB cord into the USB jack on the scanner and plug the opposite end into a USB jack on your computer. The USB cable has a square end and a flat, rectangular end. The square end is plugged into the scanner and the rectangular end is plugged into the computer.
- 3). Connect the automatic document feeder cable, which is found on the back of the scanner cover, to the automatic document feeder jack. Turn the left and right screws on the cable to secure the cable.
- 4). Place the transparent materials adapter near the scanner and connect the wire into the transparent materials adapter jack. The transparent materials adapter is used to scan slides and picture negatives. If you do not plan to scan these materials, you can skip this step.
- 5). Plug the small end of the power cord into the power cord jack and connect the opposite end to an electrical outlet.
- 6). Insert the HP software installation CD into your computer and choose between installing "HP Image Zone" or "HP Scanjet 7600 Series Document ISIS/TWAIN" software. Most users should install "HP Image Zone," as it offers the most functionality for your scanner, including document and picture scanning. The "HP Scanjet 7600 Series Document ISIS/TWAIN" option does not support image scanning or support the scanner's button functions. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation of the software.
