    Invitations

    • Colorful, music-themed invitations are a fun way to let your guests know that they have been invited to a karaoke party. Order karaoke-themed invitations online or at your local super center. If you're creative, make your own invitations with cardstock and music-themed stickers or stencils. Send out your invitations at least three weeks before the big event to ensure that your guest have time to respond and mark their calendars.

    Supplies

    • Most people don't own karaoke machines, but that doesn't mean you can't host a karaoke party. There are karaoke party stores that can supply you with a karaoke machine, microphone and a CD collection to rent. Decorate a stage area for your guests to shine while they belt out their favorite tunes. You can build your own stage if you're crafty, but a well-lit wall will work just as well. Hang party lights around the stage area to add a spotlight effect.

    Organization

    • As the host of your karaoke party, it's your job to keep things going smoothly. Make a songbook that guests can flip through to choose the songs they want to sing ahead of time and have them write down their choices on note cards and hand them in to you. Play the songs on the note cards in the order that you receive them so that no one ever has to wait too long to take the stage.

    Food and Drink

    • Keep the food simple since the main attraction of your party is karaoke. Room-temperature snacks work best since they won't spoil when left out on tables. Put out dishes like chips and dip, cheese and crackers, olives, salted nuts, and berries for your guests to munch on as they watch the show. Offer simple, alcoholic drinks for the adults and an assortment of sodas for younger guests to drink.
